Today we got up at 6 AM because at 78 degrees that’s the coolest it was going to be. (It hit 110 yesterday.) In spite of the fact that he hasn’t exactly been behaving well lately, we took A.J. to a park that was (fortunately) deserted. This turned out to be what was probably the second-best day of his life, right behind the day we went to the swimming pool. He mostly ran around like a crazy dog looking for squirrels. But I was able to get him over to the water several times, at which point he came flying full speed and launched himself into the water after the stick I threw for him. We were out there for half an hour and he never stopped running and swimming, so I was hoping that would tire him out. Silly me. It’s now 9 AM and he’s been in and out of the house several times to chase birds and bark at neighbor dogs. He’s not tired at all. This is going to be a long day, it’s supposed to be over 100 degrees again.
